Enrichment

The Enrichment Program at the Humane Society of El Paso provides physical exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization for the shelter animals awaiting adoption.

The goal of this program is to not just meet the quality of life standards at animal shelters, but to exceed them. The HSEP enrichment activities help reduce stress, fear, and reduce the chance of serious behavioral problems that arise from long term sheltering.

The Humane Society of El Paso's Enrichment team is commited to bettering the lives of all animals while they are in the HSEP's care. The dogs are taken on weekend hikes, participate in playgroups, and are taught basic manners. Cats are provided with a variety of engaging toys to keep them happy. The HSEP's Catio even features a cat treadmill and fountain to help the cats' physical and mental stimulation.
