Hurricane Harvey Relief

Happiness happens at the Humane Society of El Paso, and it has for the last seventy years. Today, we are asking for your support to help happiness happen for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Thousands of animals have found themselves orphaned, homeless, and displaced because of the storm. These animals are in need of a little Happiness, and the HSEP hopes to bring that to them, but it needs your help to do it. The HSEP invites you to take part in El Pasoans Uniting for Hurricane Harvey Animal Rescue.

Participation is simple, and everyone can do something. We are asking El Pasoans for support
in the following capacities:
Open your heart and your home to a rescue animal. Each rescue will need a place to
go, and every foster equals one more life that can be saved. Sign up to volunteer here!
Donate funds to support the rescue efforts. Each animal will need food, bowls, a
warm blanket, a crate, and a toy, and your donations are going to make it possible.
Donations are also necessary to allow for the transport of these animals from the
affected areas to the safety of El Paso.
Spread the word. You may not be able to donate or open your home to a foster animal,
but you may know someone who can. Help us reach as many El Pasoans as possible, in
an effort to save as many lives as possible.
Attend the fundraising event. This is an opportunity to not only help out, but have a
great time while you do it. The event will be held at San Jacinto Plaza on Sunday, September 3rd from 3:00pm to 11:00pm.

No one can do everything, nor can we do it alone. Every person, every foster, and every dollar can help save the thousands of animals affected by Hurricane Harvey. Together, El Pasoans can unite for Hurricane Harvey Animal Rescue.

Tremendous thanks goes out to Brad Keats for spearheading the effort and making this event possible. The HSEP would also like to thank Dee Margo, Peter Svarzbien, Crystal Salcido, Joe Rodriguez, Timothy Girts, Kassi Foster, Patrick McNiel, Neon Desert Music Festival, Lowbrow Palace, Caroline Vazquez, Matt Keats, and Lisa Sanchez for contributing to making this fundraiser possible.

The event will be free and open to the public. Please bring whatever you can donate:

ADOPTION EVENT
The Humane Society of El Paso will have pets on-site for adoption. These are pets that are from El Paso and currently housed in the Humane Society. In order to make room for an influx of orphaned animals displaced by the hurricane HSEP needs your help to find homes for as many pets currently in their shelter as possible. The more pets that get adopted at this event, the more pets we can rescue from the affected areas.

WHERE WILL THE FUNDS GO?
Shortly following the fund raising event, a group of volunteers will drive to the affected areas in 3-4 large vans. The vehicles will be full of donated supplies for pets and humans. The human supplies will be delivered directly to those in need via the red cross. After the human supplies are delivered the volunteers bring the pet supplies to the temporary animal shelters. The volunteers will work with our partner shelters on the ground to determine which animals are the most in need. The animals will be loaded into crates inside the now empty vans and transported back to El Paso where the Humane Society will work to find homes for them.
