MORE SPACE MEANS MORE LIVES SAVED

Thanks to those willing to share their living space as Foster Volunteers, we can save more lives by placing animals in temporary homes that best fit their needs.

Volunteering your time and home as a foster parent will help us save more lives by keeping space available at the shelter for new incoming homeless pets.

The HSEP foster program cares for animals with various needs, including puppies & kittens under 8 weeks, pregnant or nursing dogs & cats, and animals with special needs.

FOSTER A PET

You don’t need prior pet experience to be a foster parent, and it is okay if you have pets at home — so long as they’re friendly and up to date on all of their shots.
You will play an important role in helping HSEP care for our special needs animals such as…
Puppies and kittens under 8 weeks-of-age,
Pregnant or nursing dogs and cats,
Animals recovering from injuries or surgeries.

What does it cost?

Nothing but time, patience, and love. HSEP will provide all the necessities required to care for the animal or animals you are fostering.

What will the HSEP provide?

HSEP provides you with supplies such as food, litter, crates, toys, bedding, and medicine. Our on-site veterinary staff will provide any necessary medical care your foster animal needs. You are never alone. Our Foster Team is here for you 24/7 in the event of an emergency and to ensure you have a fantastic experience.

What type of animals will I foster?

Foster pets are among our most vulnerable rescues. They may be recovering from injuries, senior dogs, infant pups or kittens, or pregnant mothers. Tell us what type of animals you are most comfortable caring for and we will match you up. From pregnant mothers, to special needs animals, they can all benefit from the love you share.

How long will I be fostering a pet?

A few days to a few months. It all depends on the type of animal(s) you are caring for.

How do I become a Foster?

Apply here! Our foster staff will review your application to ensure your home environment is a good fit for our program. A home visit may be required to ensure you are matched with the right foster pet. The review and approval period can take up to three weeks.
