Shiloh steps down

Shiloh arrived at the Humane Society of El Paso as many other animals do, but her path quickly took a turn: she was fostered by an HSEP staff member, and began shadowing Shelbie the Shelter Dog to learn the role of Shelter Dog. Shiloh was appointed the Shelter Dog Apprentice, and has done a great job. Shiloh is sweet, playful, and outgoing, making her a prime candidate for Shelter Dog.

Shiloh loves helping her friends find their fur-ever homes and being an advocate for animals across the city. Shiloh gets to welcome new rescues, and congratulate former rescues once they are adopted. It is a fulfilling role, but Shiloh cannot help but get a little sad watching all of her friends find their fur-ever homes, knowing that a true fur-ever home is not in the cards for a Shelter Dog.

It is only after much consideration that the Humane Society of El Paso announces that Shiloh will no longer be the Shelter Dog, and will go up for adoption. This is in no way a reflection of Shiloh, as she was a superb Shelter Dog; HSEP personnel simply feel that Shiloh deserves the opportunity to be someone’s dog, not just the Shelter Dog.

Applications will be accepted May 8th through May 21st. Once the application period closes, the HSEP’s management team will review the applications, conduct home visits, and choose the best home for this celebrity canine.

Shiloh’s ideal home is one where she can lounge on the couch, cuddle with her loved ones, and play with other dogs. Shiloh is potty trained, and would do best in a home with older children and other dogs.

If you are interested in adopting Shiloh, please visit the shelter to spend some time with her before applying to adopt. Any questions may be emailed to rcoulehan@hselpaso.org. All applications must be submitted in person, following a meet and greet.

Thank you, El Paso, for welcoming Shiloh into the role of Shelter Dog earlier this year, and thank you for helping her find a fur-ever home now.
